BronZeiko – Frequently Asked Questions

What is a bronze watch?

Bronze watches are made from a copper-based alloy that naturally develops a patina over time. Unlike stainless steel, bronze slowly changes color as it reacts with air, moisture, and daily wear, creating a unique look that is different for every watch.

Will my bronze watch change color?

Yes. One of the defining features of bronze is that it develops a natural patina over time. Some watches darken gradually while others develop deeper brown or antique tones depending on wear and environment.

Many collectors enjoy this process because it makes each watch completely unique.

Can I remove the patina if I want?

Yes. If you prefer the original bronze color, the patina can easily be removed using simple household methods such as lemon juice, vinegar, or polishing cloths. This restores the brighter bronze tone.

What movement is used in BronZeiko watches?

BronZeiko watches use reliable Japanese automatic movements, known for their durability and accuracy. Such examples are, the NH35 and NH36 movement. These movements are widely respected in the watch community and require no battery, running instead through the motion of your wrist.

Are BronZeiko watches official watches made by a large Japanese company?

BronZeiko is an independent watch project and is not affiliated with or endorsed by any Japanese Companies.

Our watches are assembled using genuine BronZeiko components, including BronZeiko dials, hands, and automatic movements, which are combined with custom solid bronze cases to create a unique interpretation of classic Japanese-inspired designs.

This approach allows combines the reliability and mechanical Japanese Heritage with the distinctive character and natural patina that makes bronze watches so unique.

Is bronze safe to wear on skin?

Yes. Bronze is safe to wear and widely used in watchmaking. Our bronze watches use a stainless steel caseback, meaning the bronze does not sit directly against the skin.

Some people may notice slight discoloration on the skin from bronze oxidation, which is harmless and easily washed away.

Are bronze watches durable?

Yes. Bronze is a strong metal that has historically been used in marine hardware and diving equipment because of its corrosion resistance. This makes it well suited for rugged tool watches.

Are the watches water resistant?

BronZeiko watches are designed with everyday durability in mind and are suitable for daily wear. All cases are rated to 200m water resistance.

Do bronze watches require special care?

Bronze watches require very little maintenance. Some owners enjoy allowing the patina to develop naturally, while others occasionally clean the case to restore its original tone.

Are your watches limited?
